Ronald de Hommel is a Dutch photographer living in Medellin, Colombia, Latin America. He studied television journalism and has worked as a professional photographer for more than 10 years. He recently started with video again. He has spent most of these 10 years covering stories all over the world from China to Afghanistan to the Palestinian territories to El Salvador. Ronald specializes in global social issues relating to conflict, the environment and development. He is currently working on a multi-year project called Disputed Waters. His photos have been published in many international magazines and Newspapers like Le Monde Magazine, National Geographic Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek Magazine, Le Figaro, Jeune Afrique, NRC, Financieele Dagblad, De Groene Amsterdammer and Elsevier.
In France he is represented by: Babel Photo.
Ronald currently lives in Medellin, Colombia where, together with journalist Jeroen Kuiper, he set up The Medellin Office. They produce (multi-media) stories for different international media.
One of their passions is great coffee. Under the name: The Coffee Quest they collect Colombian specialty coffees and their stories. They are available for sale online in the Netherlands and Germany.
